Meet Our “Senior Pastor” – Jose Luis
Pastor Jose Luis was born in Mexico and moved to San Antonio at a young age
with his family. Growing up, he experienced the beauty of both cultures and is
fluent in both English and Spanish. As a sophomore in high school, he gave his life
to Jesus, beginning a lifelong journey of faith that would shape his future. While
attending the University of Texas at San Antonio, he was part of the inaugural
launch of Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) on campus—a pivotal experience that
deepened his passion for sharing the Gospel and discipling others.
For over 35 years, Pastor Jose Luis has faithfully served in ministry. He began by
serving in various roles in college and at a local church while helping plant a new
congregation, where he later pastored for 12 years. Throughout his ministry, he has
dedicated himself to helping people grow in their faith, strengthen their families,
and engage in the work of the Gospel. In 2022, he received his Ministry License
through the Evangelical Free Church of America.
Pastor Jose Luis has a heart to see the church thrive as a place where people
encounter the love of Christ, grow in their walk with God, and are equipped to live
out their faith boldly. His teaching is deeply rooted in Scripture, emphasizing the
power of grace, redemption, and transformation in Christ.

Beyond his pastoral ministry, he and his wife, Belinda, have been happily married
since 1993. Together, they cherish time spent with their two adult children, Cristina
and Jose Luis II. Pastor Jose Luis also enjoys playing the guitar and has been
blessed to serve in worship ministry.
His life verse is Galatians 2:20:
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me
and gave himself for me.”

Pastor Jose Luis invites you to be part of what God is doing at Communion
Chapel. Whether you are seeking a church home or exploring faith, he looks
forward to welcoming you and walking alongside you on your journey of faith.
